David and Phyllis met in 2016 in the reception of their apartment building not realising that love could be so close.  They discovered they had loads in common including the love of travelling and the same birthday! The first place they holidayed together was our beautiful island of Madeira and they have come back for various visits since.  So what better excuse than a wedding to come back again.  Their day was about them… their love and their dreams for the future, so being like young teenagers they chose to elope to this tropical paradise. I so loved working with them to plan the perfect day.  The location was easy.  Porto Mare Hotel is one of their favourites in Funchal and with its private garden overlooking the ocean, there was no better choice for their destination wedding.

So with their favourite music playing, they shared their Vows overlooking the ocean.  Then for a glass of prosecco and some delicious canapés, they toasted to their new beginnings. Even an elopement wedding can have a cake.  Especially with a Celebrant and Photographer as their guests!  O Lado cake shop in Funchal created the most scrumptious lemon cake with creamy white topping.

The afternoon was then theirs to relax before they returned to their private garden for a romantic meal in the gazebo lit with fairy lights.

For our elopement wedding in Madeira we were very fortunate in our choice of Wedding Planner. We enlisted the help of Rebecca de Sancha and everything was arranged in a series of emails. The whole day was perfect and we have nothing but praise for Becky who wrote the words for and conducted our ceremony; Tiago our photographer; the florist and the lady who made our cake. Becky ensured that everything arrived on time and it was all as we hoped and imagined it would be – a big thank you to them all.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to The Hotel Porto Mare and their excellent staff for providing and preparing such a beautiful venue for both our ceremony and the magical Wedding Dinner which we enjoyed in the evening.
