Annie and Jacob married 10 years ago surrounded by family and great friends and then promised each other that on their 10th wedding anniversary they would renew the Wedding Vows and choose somewhere romantic for the occasion.
Now with two beautiful children, Henri and Stella, they chose to incorporate their Renewal of Vows with a family holiday to Madeira, and have their children as witnesses. They felt it was important that their kids see the importance of love, understanding and commitment.
So on a cliff edge with amazing views, Annie and Jacob renewed their Wedding Vows, in a personal ceremony I had written for them. Henri and Stella took their roll to hold the rings very seriously and Henri also read a poem. They had a certificate to remember the day by and Henri and Stella signed as witnesses. They then had a Sand Ceremony, with all four of them having a different colour sand, symbolising them being together as a family.
“As you each hold your sand the separate containers of sand represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you combine your sand together, you symbolise the connection your relationship gives
Now today is not just about the two of you but it also about you celebrating your love as a family. So Henri and Stella, you also have a jar of sand. What I would like you to do, is add you sand to the container, symbolising you coming together as a family.
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your family be, always together.”
After the Ceremony, they had photos including at a waterfall that falls directly on to the road which the children particularly enjoyed. Then a quick change into casual clothes for a family photo shoot around Ponta do Sol.
